Lehigh Valley Youth Lacrosse League 2022 Adjusted Rules

 

The LVYLL has adopted the 2022 US Lacrosse set of rules and will follow them explicitly with the following exceptions noted below for each age group.  Please consult the US Lacrosse rule book along with these league mandated adjustments and abide by them for the entirety of the 2022 season. 

 

1st & 2nd Grade (8U) - A Division

 

  • Rule 1.1 – Field Measurements (pg. 10)
    • US Lacrosse Ruling 
      • The playing field shall be rectangular, 60-70 yards in length and 35-45 yards in width.  The center of the field shall have a four-inch “X”.  The goal creases shall be circular with a radius of 9 feet.  Either portable creases or painted creases can be utilized for games.
  • Rule 1.2 – Goals (pg. 11)
    • Goals measuring 6’x6’ from the inside measurements and securely affixed netting on it that would not allow a ball to pass through it shall be used.  The goal is centered in the goal crease.
    • The LVYLL acknowledges the benefit of 4’x4’ goals at this level and programs may use this size goal 2022 season moving forward.
  • Rule 1.5 – The Ball (pg. 11)
    • The ball used should be a standard lacrosse ball that must meet NOCSAE ND049 standards.
    • The preferred color is white.
  • Rule 1.9 – (B) Goalkeeper Equipment (pg. 12)
    • Goalkeeper chest protector designed for lacrosse that meets NOCSAE ND200 standard at the time of manufacture
  • Rule 2.1 – Number of Players (pg. 13)
    • LVYLL 2022 Ruling
      • 6 total players – 5 field players and 1 goalkeeper
      • No Long Poles
  • Rule 2.3 – Coaches (pg.13)
    • Each team may have one coach that may enter the field to instruct but may not impede the flow of the game.
  • Rule 2.5 – Officials (pg. 13)
    • One certified official is required per field of play.
  • Rule 2.8 – Timekeeper (pg. 13)
    • The home team shall designate a timekeeper.
  • Rule 3.1 – Length of the Game
    • A competition will consist of two 20-minute running time halves, with a 4-minute halftime period.
  • Rule 4.1 – Coin Toss (pg. 14)
    • No coin toss.
  • Rule 4.2 – Positioning of Players and Starting Play (pg. 14)
    • Field players
    • Games will consist of a standard faceoff to start each half and after the score of each goal.
    • Standard faceoff procedures & violations will be followed based on the 7th & 8th grade level from 4.3 starting on page 58 and 4.4 starting on page 60.
  • Rule 4.21 – Substitution Procedures (pg. 16)
    • Players will be substituted in accordance with the 7th & 8th grade level from 4.21 starting on page 54.
  • Rule 4.22 – Restarting Play (pg. 16)
    • US Lacrosse Ruling 
      • Players must attempt one pass in their offensive end of the field before a team can shoot the ball.

2022 US Lacrosse Rules - Appendix (All Divisions)

LVYLL Only Rule - Any player that would be ejected from a game for any reason will be be automatically suspended from their next game whether it be in A or B division. Any additional ejections in a single season can come with additional suspensions and will be at the discretion of the LVYLL Executive Board.
