5th/6th Grade Division
Lehigh Valley Youth Lacrosse League 2022Adjusted Rules
The LVYLL has adopted the 2022 US Lacrosse set of rules and will follow them explicitly with the following exceptions noted below for each age group. Please consult the US Lacrosse rule book along with these league mandated adjustments and abide by them for the entirety of the 2022 season.
5th & 6th Grade (12U)
- Rule 1.2 – Field Measurements (pg. 36)
- The playing field shall be rectangular, 110 yards in length and 60 yards in width. The center of the field shall have a four-inch “X”. The goal creases shall be circular with a radius of 9 feet. Either portable creases or painted creases can be utilized for games.
- Rule 2.1 – Number of Players (pg. 38-39)
- 10 total players – 9 field players and 1 goalkeeper
- All other 10v10 format rules will apply
- Rule 3.2 Score Differential (pg. 39)
- If the goal differential reverts to less than 6 goals in the second half, the running clock will end and normal timing operations will resume until the score differential is 12 or more or the end of the game is reached. After the first half, once the goal differential reaches 6 goals or more, the team’s head coach that is trailing in the game shall have the option to start with possession of the ball at midfield or faceoff. If the score reverts to 5 goals or less, normal faceoff rules will apply
- Rule 3.4 - Overtime (pg. 40)
- Standard overtime procedures will be followed based on the 7th & 8th grade level from 3.4 starting on page 57.
- Rule 4.3 Facing Off (pg. 40)
- The LVYLL has adopted that all faceoffs will align with the NCAA Regulations of Standing Neutral Grip
- Using a motorcycle grip is prohibited. Players must use a neutral grip
- Players taking the faceoff may only have their feet, gloves and lacrosse stick on the ground.
- On the third faceoff violation of the half, the player who has committed the third violation must serve a 30 second penalty
- The LVYLL has adopted that all faceoffs will align with the NCAA Regulations of Standing Neutral Grip
- Rule 4.4 – Positioning of Players and Starting Play (pg. 40-41)
- Field players will be set up in a 3-3-3 manner for the start of the game.
- Standard face off procedures & violations will be followed based on the 7th & 8th grade level from 4.3 starting on page 58 and 4.4 starting on page 60.
- Rule 4.10 – Offside (pg. 42)
- The 10v10 format rule will apply for the level of play.
- Rule 4.21 – Substitution Procedures (pg. 44)
- Players will be substituted in accordance with the 7th & 8th grade level from 4.21 starting on page 54.
- Rule 7.8 - Slow Whistle Technique (Pg. 49)
- The LVYLL will OMIT the tenth option for the ending of a slow whistle (The ball hits the ground (not on a shot), the slow whistle is terminated). Therefore if a ball hits the ground and the non-penalized team is able to regain possession the referees will not blow the play dead.
LVYLL Only Rule - Any player that would be ejected from a game for any reason will be be automatically suspended from their next game whether it be in A or B division. Any additional ejections in a single season can come with additional suspensions and will be at the discretion of the LVYLL Executive Board.
